School Bus Bullying and Attacks

Remember the days when you used to ride the bus? When I rode the bus, we had assigned seats and if we even thought about acting up, we were in serious trouble. Lately, there have been incidences in the news; where kids are bullying other students on the bus and attacking the bus drivers.


I blame bad parenting as well as new laws that have been put into place. Last week on my children's bus, a Kindergartner was hit in the eye by a 5th grader. The bus driver has been doing all that she possibly can, to get the culprit off the bus. She has sent in referrals to the school, talked to the parent, etc to no avail. Our school is 2 blocks from my house and I'm shocked at how many incidences can happen in that short period of time.

Luckily, no one has psychically hit any of my children but I can't sit around and know that other children are being bullied as well; especially kindergartners. Not long ago, my bus driver would kick us off the bus and make us walk home. Of course, we were mad at our driver but we were more afraid of what mom and dad would do when they found out.

The solution to these problems can include making the child AND parent liable for their actions, bus monitors and cameras on ALL buses. Are these issues just on my child's bus or have your children been having issues as well? Bullying students and attacking bus drivers HAS to stop NOW.
